Odegaard completes medical, new signing like Mesut Ozil, Arteta makes Ryan admission and Poch will let Draxler sign with Arsenal in Arsenal roundup….
Mikel Arteta says Arsenal will wait to see how Mat Ryan performs before deciding to make his loan deal permanent or not.
After letting Emiliano Martinez leave the club in the summer transfer window, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta knew that he needed to add a better back up to Bernd Leno than Alex Runarrson, who has not impressed so far in his Arsenal career.
That meant that Arteta was hoping the board would allow him to spend some money in the transfer window to help improve his squad, and bring in a back-up for Leno that has proven himself in the Premier League, and they managed that with the signing of Ryan
But Arteta says Arsenal will wait to see how Mat Ryan performs before deciding to make his loan deal permanent or not, The Gunners boss said: “I don’t know, he’s just arrived. It’s a loan deal and he still has a contract with Brighton and we will assess to see how he performs, see how he adapts, what we need in the future. It’s still too early to decide.
“He is a player who knows the league really well, he has played so many games, he has international experience, he is at the right age, he has been competing regularly until December I think.
“We felt with the departure of Matt Macey, we needed another keeper in the team to give more protection so we looked at the market and we wanted a loan deal and we decided to go with Mat because he had the right profile for us.
Asked what Ryan’s arrival will mean for Alex Runarsson, Arteta add: “That area of the squad needs three goalkeepers and they need to compete with each other, challenge each other and everyone will get their role.
“After you have your role, you just have to support each other again to get the best out of each other. This is the role, come here and try to make it better.”
It is understood Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to let Julian Draxler join Arsenal if he can land Matteo Guendouzi.
Guendouzi has been frozen out at Arsenal by Mikel Arteta since allegedly boasting about his wages to Brighton striker Neal Maupay during a 2-1 loss last June, and the midfielder’s attitude was called into question once more when he was seen arguing with Hertha Berlin teammate Matheus Cunha at half-time of a 3-0 defeat to Hoffenheim last week.
It is believed that Mikel Arteta has now plans to bring the young man back to the club and will look to get him off the books in the summer transfer window on a more permanent transfer basis.
And now reports in France claim PSG are set to reignite their interest in Guendouzi, who spent nine years in their academy, as The Ligue 1 champions are reportedly ready to take him back to the club in the summer
They reportedly wanted to sign him before he joined Arsenal for £7million from Lorient in 2018, and with reports suggesting that Julian Draxler is no longer needed at the club, they are prepared to offer the German to Arsenal in hope of sealing a deal for Guendouzi
Draxler has been linked with a move to Arsenal for many seasons now, but a move to the Emirates has never happened as the Gunners hierarchy are not prepared to pay the big money to get a transfer deal done
Martin Odegaard has been compared to Mesut Ozil, who has literally just left Arsenal for Fenerbahce.
With Mikel Arteta seeking to add a bit more creativity to this Arsenal squad, the Gunners moved quickly in the transfer window to secure a transfer deal to bring Odegaard to the club after news broke that he wanted to leave Madrid.
Recent reports have revealed that he has now completed his medical, with an announcement very soon, but ahead of his arrival, Norwegian journalist Pal Gorden Nilson believes Odegaard is similar to the World Cup winner Ozil
He told talkSPORT 2: “I don’t think Arsenal should really think now that this is the new Mesut Ozil.
“He’s the kind of player like Ozil, he’s a creative midfielder, a No.10 player.
“Perhaps he could give some good passes to [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang and [Alexandre] Lacazette.
“He’s creative, talented, but Arteta needs to get the best out of him to really see the real Martin Odegaard. He’s very talented.
“He made his debut for Norway at 15 years old. He still hasn’t shown his full potential.”
Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard has reportedly completed his medical ahead of his move to Arsenal
There has been alot of speculation in the media over the past few weeks after news broke in the media that he told Real Madrid that he wanted to leave the club this transfer window.
Odegaard enjoyed a very good loan spell at Real Sociedad least season, and was hoping that this season, he would finally get the opportunity to showcase his talents and get his name on the regular starting sheet at the club.
However, that never happened, as Zinedine Zidane did not trust the talent, and when Arsenal came calling, he jumped at the opportunity to test himself at the London club, in the best League in the world.
The rumours have all been positive about his move to Arsenal, and he now looks set to be announced inside the next 24 hours, as Sky Sports reports that the 23 year-old has completed his medical ahead of his move, and he could be ready to play as early as the weekend.
Odegaard is expected to join on a loan deal until the end of the season, with no option to buy at the end of it, and will be expected to bring competition to Emile Smith Rowe for a role in behind the forward, although he can play wider if needed.
Look, Arsenal are getting a very special player that will go on to impress the fans, if he gets the game time that he is hoping for.
He is a very good player that just needs to play under the right manager, and he may be able to get a permanent one if he impresses
Good deal by Arsenal
