28-year old forward Jure Gunjina (203-F-92) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Skrljevo and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 13.
He had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while his team crushed H.Analitica (#12, 1-10) with 17-point margin 89-72. Skrljevo maintains the 6th position in Croatian league. Skrljevo is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-6 record. In the team’s last game Gunjina had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Skrljevo’s top player in his first season with the team. Georgia Southwestern State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Gunjina is in league’s top in points (6th best: 16.4ppg) and averages solid 52.3% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Dominik Mavra (195-G-94) of top-ranked Zadar. He is international guard in his 2nd season at Zadar. In the last game Mavra recorded impressive 21 points and 5 assists. Of course he led Zadar to another comfortable win 81-62 over slightly lower-ranked Cibona (#2, 9-3) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Zadar consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 10 matches. Mavra is well-known at Zadar and he already established his position as one of the team’s leaders.
Third place about best performers goes to swingman Petar Maric (196-G/F-87, agency: PEPI SPORT) of Zabok (#8). Maric scored 12 points and passed six assists. Despite Maric’s great performance Zabok lost 68-90 to the higher-ranked Gorica (#3, 8-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Zabok not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 8 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Maric could try to bring Zabok’s a little bit higher in the standings. Maric has a very solid season. In 27 games in Croatia he scored 12.9ppg.
