Defending champion Virtus Segafredo Bologna (Serie A) added to their roster experienced 34-year old Italian international guard Marco Belinelli (196-91kg-86). He has played for the last two seasons at San Antonio Spurs in the NBA. In 57 games he recorded 6.3ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.2apg last season.
In 2007 Belinelli was drafted by Golden State Warriors (NBA) in first round (18th overall).
Belinelli has been also a member of Italian international program for some years. He has regularly played for Italian senior team since 2004 and previously for U20 National Team between 2004 and 2005.
Belinelli also represented Italy at the European Championships three years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 17.9ppg, 2.9rpg, 2.0apg, Steals-5 (2.0spg), FGP: 35.0%, 3PT: 44.6%, FT: 73.3%.
Belinelli has played previously professionally in NBA (New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings) and Italy (Virtus 1934 Bologna).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted Eurobasket.com All-European Championships 3rd Team back in 2017.

Ball handling ability is top notch as he can lead the fast break or take opposing guards off the dribble Belinelli is one of the best shooters off the dribble anywhere in his age group. Even more impressive is that he needs little time to get his shot off thanks to his ultra quick release. Moves extremely well without the ball using an assortment of cuts and fakes to get open. Works very well off of picks and screens where he is superb off the catch and shoot.
Defensively he may struggle to defend more athletic shooting guards as his lateral quickness is average at best. Tends to get caught up in shooting from the perimeter instead of driving the lane and drawing fouls.
