The most important game in the last round took place in between second ranked I.Ramat Gan (7-4) and fourth ranked Hapoel H/M (7-3) on Sunday night. I.Ramat Gan was defeated by Hapoel H/M in a tough game on the road 112-119. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Hapoel H/M made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American LaceDarius Dunn (193-87, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Daniel Danino (186-96, agency: BIG) who added 25 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Delwan Graham (200-88, college: Jacksonville, agency: BIG) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. I.Ramat Gan’s coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Hapoel H/M moved-up to second place. Newly promoted I.Ramat Gan dropped to the third position with four games lost. Hapoel H/M’s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in to the arena .
The game between Top Four teams took place in Ashdod. 3rd ranked host Maccabi Ashdod (6-3) lost to top-ranked Ironi Ashkelon (10-0) 89-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maccabi Ashdod. The winners were led by American forward AlLonzo Coleman (207-89, college: Presbyterian) who scored that evening 25 points and 7 rebounds and Clarke Rosenberg supported him with 18 points and 6 assists. Even 9 points and 9 rebounds by the former international Raviv Pitshon (198-89, agency: Ron Sport) did not help to save the game for Maccabi Ashdod. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Ironi Ashkelon have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-0 record. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with H.Galilee. Ironi Ashkelon will play against H.Afula (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hasharon in Hod Hasharon and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Netanya between E.Netanya and Hasharon. Ninth ranked E.Netanya (5-5) got a very close home victory over 10th ranked Hasharon (3-5). E.Netanya managed to escape with a 2-point win 74-72 in the fight for the ninth place. Bryce Washington fired a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Xavier Moon produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. E.Netanya maintains ninth position with 5-5 record. Loser Hasharon keeps the tenth place with five games lost. They share the position with M.Raanana. E.Netanya will again meet Hasharon (#12) in the next round. Hasharon will play against Maccabi Ashdod and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 16: H.Galilee won against E.Yavne on the opponent’s court 79-73. H.Acre unfortunately lost to M.Raanana in a home game 97-110. Ramat Hash. managed to beat M.Kiryat Motzkin on the road 102-90.

E.Yavne – H.Galilee 73-79

Very expected game when 12th ranked Elitzur Yavne (2-7) was defeated at home by fifth ranked H.Galilee (6-3) 79-73 on Sunday. H.Galilee made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Guard Deshaun Night (186) fired 21 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. American-Bahamas Jonathan Augustin-Fairell (201-93, college: Murray St., agency: Duran International) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward Franklin Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Puerto Rican-American point guard TreVon Hughes (185-87, college: Wisconsin) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. H.Galilee moved-up to fourth place, which they share with M.Ashdod. Elitzur Yavne lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. H.Galilee will meet at home bottom-ranked M.Kiryat Motzkin (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Elitzur Yavne will play against Maccabi Raanana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Maccabi Raanana had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. Maccabi Raanana looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American-Jamaican Quintrell Thomas (203-90, college: UNLV) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American guard Austin Price (193-95, college: Lehigh) chipped in 33 points (!!!) (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Four Maccabi Raanana players scored in double figures. American J.R. Holder (198-94, college: Jacksonville) produced 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Daishon Knight (185-91, college: Illinois St.) added 20 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Maccabi Raanana moved-up to tenth place, which they share with M.Hod Hasharon. H.Acre lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Maccabi Raanana will meet at home Elitzur Yavne (#13) in the next round. H.Acre will play against I.Ramat Gan and hope to win that game.
